Dedicated Access to Space for Medium-Sized Satellites and Constellations

PLD Space unveils the evolution in the design and performance of the vehicle previously presented by the company as MIURA 5 Block 1.2 in October 2024. The launcher’s commercial name is now MIURA 9, reflecting its greater scale and its status as a distinct vehicle within the MIURA family. Its development forms part of the €158.9 million contract signed with ESA under the European Launcher Challenge.

MIURA 9 is a pioneer of reusable technology in Europe, opening the door to faster, cost-effective and higher launch cadence capabilities. It addresses the growing demand for sovereign and dedicated launches for medium-sized satellites and constellations not just in Europe, but across the globe.

Funding has been received from the Betica Business Expansion Corporation (FCR), co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), for the project "MIURA 1 Launches at INTA and R&D&I Developments in Andalusia." This project aims to promote technological development, innovation, and high-quality research.
