About PLD Space
PLD Space is an international company on a mission to transport satellites into space, vertically integrating the engineering, testing, manufacturing, and operations of its reusable and sustainable rockets. Headquartered in Elche (Spain) and founded in 2011 by Raúl Torres and Raúl Verdú, PLD Space has established itself as a global benchmark in the small satellite launch sector. Its family of MIURA launchers and LINCE crewed capsule position the company as a leader in European technological sovereignty for space transportation, covering the full spectrum of space missions.
PLD Space operates over 188,000 m² of facilities in Elche, Teruel (Spain), Kourou (French Guiana), and Duqm (Oman), enabling the company to provide comprehensive satellite and payload launch services into space.
Teamwork, courage, determination and ambition enable PLD Space to guarantee an autonomous, independent satellite space access capability, based on reliability at a globally competitive price. The company is able to offer best-in-class launch services to commercial satellite operators, institutions, space agencies and national and international governmental entities
Mission
The Avionics V&V Engineer is responsible for defining, preparing and assessing the verification and validation activities required to demonstrate that avionics products meet their technical requirements.
This role focuses on translating product and system requirements into clear verification strategies, test specifications, acceptance criteria and evidence needs. The Avionics V&V Engineer ensures that tests are technically meaningful, properly traced to requirements, adequately reviewed and supported by robust evidence for product qualification, acceptance, integration and flight readiness.
The position requires a strong technical background in electronics and avionics systems, together with the ability to work across product development, testing, production and system-level integration activities.
Responsibilities
- Review avionics product requirements from a verification perspective, ensuring they are clear, measurable, testable and supported by appropriate acceptance criteria.
- Translate technical requirements into clear verification objectives, measurable acceptance criteria and evidence needs.
- Prepare and maintain Test Specifications, including objectives of the test, requirements to be covered, required test conditions, expected evidence, and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure proper traceability between requirements, test specifications, procedures, results and closure evidence.
- Review test procedures, test setups and test equipment needs, ensuring they are adequate to verify the intended requirements and generate the required evidence.
- Participate in technical review milestones, contributing to the identification and closure of open actions, risks and maturity gaps.
- Follow up test execution, ensuring that deviations, configuration changes, unexpected behaviors or evidence gaps are properly identified and assessed.
- Process and assess test results to determine whether the generated evidence is sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the applicable requirements.
- Prepare and contribute to verification outputs such as qualification and acceptance test reports, verification control documents and compliance matrices.
- Support anomaly investigations, non-conformances, deviations and retest definition by assessing their impact on requirement compliance.
- Identify gaps in requirements, verification coverage, acceptance criteria, verification logic, and propose corrective actions or derived verification needs.
- Contribute to the standardization and continuous improvement of V&V practices, templates, evidence management and recurrent verification processes.
- Support the transition from development-oriented testing to recurrent, repeatable and traceable verification processes.
Necessary Requirements
- Engineering degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering with electronics specialization, or similar.
- Experience in verification, validation, testing or integration of electronic, electrical systems.
- Strong technical background in electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems, including knowledge in power electronics, digital/analog electronics, radiofrequency, harnessing, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems.
- Experience in avionics product verification at different levels, such as PCBA, subassembly, unit, subsystem or system level.
- Experience with functional/performance testing of electronics.
- Ability to analyze technical requirements and translate them into test objectives and acceptance criteria.
- Experience preparing, reviewing or using technical test documentation such as test specifications, test procedures, test reports or verification matrices.
- Good understanding of laboratory test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, signal generators, DAQs or logic analyzers.
- Ability to interpret test results, logs, measurements and evidence to determine whether a requirement has been properly verified.
- Familiarity with automated test environments, scripting or data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Test Stand or similar.
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams including design, systems, production, quality and test teams.
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage priorities across several projects in parallel.
- Strong communication, coordination and leadership skills in fast-paced technical environments.
- Language – fluent English and Spanish, written and spoken.
Desired Competencies
- Previous experience in aerospace, launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, defense, automotive, railway or other safety-critical industries.
- Experience with avionics systems, flight electronics, EGSE, SCOEs, HIL, flatsat, ATB or system-level test environments.
- Experience in qualification and acceptance test campaigns.
- Knowledge of environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal cycling, TVAC, EMC or climatic testing.
- Experience with requirement management and verification tracking tools.
- Familiarity with communication protocols commonly used in avionics or embedded systems, such as CAN, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, SpaceWire, SPI, I2C or UART.
- Experience supporting anomaly investigation, root cause analysis, NCRs, deviations or failure review boards.
- Knowledge of standards, processes or best practices related to verification, qualification, acceptance or product assurance in aerospace projects.
- Experience working in fast-paced development environments transitioning towards recurrent production.
- Capacity to work autonomously while maintaining alignment with program priorities and engineering processes.
